The Michigan City Chamber Music Festival is proud to present “Rising Again,” a family friendly program by Jennet Ingle, oboe and Mariah Boucher, piano at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 411 W. 11th Street, Michigan City, IN. The concert is FREE and will be followed by a “meet the artists” reception!
“Rising Again,” explores themes of transformation through compositions by leading new music composers Mary Chandler, Katherine Needleman, Dirk-Michael Kirsch and Alyssa Morris.
Jennette Ingle is principal oboist for both the South Bend Symphony Orchestra and the Northwest Indiana Symphony. Her first book, “The Happiest Musician,” is available now. Jennet Ingle loves the oboe. She has built an active career around performing, teaching, making reeds for, and writing about it, and believes deeply that everyone else loves it, too. Perhaps they just don’t know it yet. She teaches at Valparaiso University and privately. With the South Bend Symphony Wind Quintet she presents frequent concerts and educational presentations throughout the community.
Boucher is an opera and art song coach who has been the music director of the South Bend Lyric Opera for the past five productions and currently serves as staff accompanist at Indiana University South Bend, as well as vocal coach at the University of Notre Dame.
The MCCMF is especially excited to open this new partnership at a new location for a performance, beautiful Saint Mary’s Catholic Church is Michigan City, IN! After the performance, we will return to our tradition of “Meet the Artists” receptions! The reception will take place right next door to the church in the Saint Mary’s Artist Studios. Light refreshments will be available, and besides having the opportunity to meet our musicians, the many fine artists will have their studios open for public view! Many wonderful works of art will be available for display and sale. The Saint Mary’s resale shop and Food Pantry will also be open for this collaborative event.
