Children’s Events for 2019

The Festival Children’s Choral Institute
Child

A children’s choir trains young voices in beautiful choral and solo singing and will enhance performance in any musical adventures, confidence, posture, breathing, mood, and reading fluency.

July, 8-12th, The Festival Children’s Choral Institute, in its 14th season, will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 121W. 9th St., Michigan City. K-5th grades will meet in the morning from 9:00-noon.  6th-12th grades, from 1:00-3:00 in the afternoon.  Kim Jones, Chicago Lyric Opera Soprano will present vocal instruction, Jennifer Muniz, Piano Professor at IU South Bend, will assist in choral instruction and accompaniment. Wear “campy” clothes for an active day; the morning program includes 30 minutes of art.

A registration fee of $50 will be accepted for participants in the 5 week-day program.

The Festival Children’s Choral Institute Concert

Participants will present what they have learned to parents and others in performance on Friday, June 14th at 3:00, lead by Phil Bauman, Miss Jones and Miss Muniz. The public is invited to this Michigan City Chamber Music Festival sponsored event.

Concert for Children by Children

The Saturday concert will be at noon at the Michigan City Public Library, and feature youthful performers from the Summer Choral Camp, the studio of Nic Orbovich, and music students from other teachers in the Michigan City area.  It’s a celebration of sharing the love of music between generations, and nurturing the youthful response.  Please come and support our young musicians!
